Cave Closure 2010

The caves in the Red River Gorge and on the Daniel Boone National Forest remain closed as we head into the new year, with no hint of when they may re-open. Research into what is causing White-Nosed Syndrome (WNS) that has plagued bats continues. On February 18-19, 2010, the Southeast Bat Diversity Network will hold their Annual Meeting in Asheville, NC.

This cave ban drives me crazy...it is somewhat typical though. The only people who honor the ban are the ones who care the most about the habitat...many others simply ignore the signs and take the risk.
